Habib Bèye content with Rennes transfer business

Rennes head coach Habib Bèye says he is content with the way the transfer window has unfolded for his side. The Senegalese led Rennes to French Ligue 1 safety last season and was rewarded with a new one-year contract.

Bèye made five notable signings during the transfer window. He says he is happy with the transfers: “We are lucky to have an owner who allows this club to be very balanced, with a sporting direction aligned with the coach’s choices. Today, no player arrives here without the agreement of the entire management team. Reinforcements will come at the right time, and we are satisfied with our work,” said the 47-year-old former Marseille and Newcastle United right-back.

Rennais signed Gambia national team–eligible Mahdi Camara, Togo hopeful Lilian Brassier, Quentin Merlin, Valentin Rongier, and Przemysław Frankowski. Bèye stated new reinforcements could come in before the end of the transfer window: “We are working quietly, peacefully, and we will have reinforcements in the future.”

Rennais is hoping to achieve a respectable result under Bèye this season. They open their 2025/26 Ligue 1 season at home against Marseille on Friday, August 15. Bèye led Ligue 2 side Red Star FC from 2021 to 2024. The former Senegal international is the only African coach leading a Ligue 1 side in France.
