Marseille manager, Habib Beye expressed delight with the slim yet important victory that keeps them in third on 49 points, three better than Olympique Lyon and eight behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
“I really liked the face of my team. We didn’t concede a goal; it wasn’t necessarily the most beautiful of victories, but I want to salute the self-sacrifice in a context that’s not simple. They’re used to a roaring Vélodrome. We fought until the end.”
The victory was Marseille’s third straight in the month of March after their 3-2 home win against Lyon on March 1 and 1-0 at Toulouse six days later.
Amine Gouiri said: “We won by the tightest of margins but I’m happy my players managed to get the result despite the difficult circumstances in the stadium.”
The solitary goal was Gouiri’s sixth of the season in 15 league appearances in the current French Ligue 1 campaign.
The 26-year-old, who represented France at the youth level until the U-21 level has 19 caps for Algeria with six goals to his credit. He previously played for Lyon, OG Nice and Rennes before signing for Olympique Marseille in 2025.
