Beye, 48, denied any crisis at the club surrounding their Coupe de France defeat at the hands of Olympique de Marseille. He was also seen criticizing Rennes’ Jordanian winger Mousa Al-Tamari.
According to Get French Football, Beye denied any wrongdoing. “It is not a clash; it is managerial instruction, like there is in every dressing room. From a coach to a player, quite simply,” said the former defender.
Reports of the alleged clash surfaced, and Beye stated that such matters should have been kept private so that the team is protected. “That is what bothers me, because these are very serious newspapers reporting things that are completely untrue. I am not here to set the truth straight, but we have to protect ourselves from this. And it is my job to protect my team from that.”
Stade Rennes are sixth in the French Ligue 1 with 31 points and are set to face second-placed RC Lens in their week 21 game on Saturday, February 7.
