Senegal forward Habib Diallo has underlined the strength of the Egypt national team ahead of the highly anticipated semi-final clash between the two sides at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt are set to face Senegal tomorrow, Wednesday, in the AFCON semi-finals, with the match scheduled to take place at the Grand Stade de Tanger (Ibn Battouta Stadium) in Tangier, Morocco.
Egypt booked their place in the last four after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals, while Senegal edged past Mali with a narrow 1-0 win at the same stage of the competition.
Speaking on the sidelines of Senegal’s final training session before the match, Diallo said:
“We know that Egypt are a good team, and we have played against them several times before. We are here to play our football, follow the coach’s instructions, and try to qualify.”
He added:
“This has been prepared for since the beginning of the tournament, and that is what we show on the pitch.”
Diallo continued:
“We are here for training, and even when we review what we have done in training, we are fully aware of what we need to do on the field.”
The Senegal striker concluded:
“We came here because we have objectives to achieve. The coach is here to help us and guide us, and we will follow his instructions. We will see what happens.”
The winner of the Egypt vs Senegal semi-final will face the winner of the other semi-final between Morocco and Nigeria in the AFCON 2025 final, scheduled to be played next Sunday.
