The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Damac and hopes to return to Europe before the end of the transfer window. According to Foot Mercato, newly promoted French Ligue 1 side Metz has agreed to personal terms with Diallo. The Senegal international started his career at Metz and spent seven years there before joining Strasbourg in 2023. If the move to Metz is completed before the transfer window deadline, it will be a homecoming for Diallo.
Metz now has to find an amicable solution with Al Shabab over the transfer. Diallo has a year remaining on his contract with the Saudi side. He has scored more than 100 goals playing in France with Metz, Brest and Strasbourg. Other French and Spanish clubs are also interested in signing Diallo but his move to Metz now seems imminent.
Metz wants Diallo to be a replacement for Idrissa Gueye, who has attracted interest from English Championship side Leicester City. Diallo scored 48 goals in 115 appearances for Metz between 2015 and 2021 after being first promoted from the reserve team during the 2015-16 season.
