Hadj Moussa inspires Feyenoord to Europa League victory in MOTM performance

Anis Hadj Moussa was influential on Thursday for Dutch giants Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League, producing a goal and an assist in a 3-0 victory over Austrian club Sturm Graz.

The Algeria national team winger put the hosts beyond reach with his low strike in the 68th minute, keeping his club’s hopes alive of advancing to the knockout stage of the competition.

Only a victory could keep the Rotterdam club away from guaranteed elimination in the league stage and their star attacker responded. Within five minutes, the hosts were ahead when the Hadj Moussa’s corner kick set up Tsuyoshi Watanabe to head in the opening goal.

The hosts failed to capitalize on their strong start initially in a first half that lacked scoring opportunities from either side. However, De Trots van Zuid were more dangerous after halftime and it was the Algerian who produced his 7th goal of the season in all competitions to secure the three points.

More work remains for the Dutch club, who remain two points out of the top-24 position required to advance to the Round of 32. They will travel to face LaLiga side Real Betis next Thursday, where they must win again to avoid elimination.

The Paris-born player now has 7 goals and 4 assists in 25 matches across all competitions this season. He also enjoyed a productive 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with Algeria, providing 2 assists in 4 appearances as Les Verts exited at the quarterfinal stage.
