Hadj Moussa’s brace lifts Feyenoord past Telstar in Eredivisie

Anis Hadj Moussa scored twice in the first half on Sunday as Feyenoord came back from an early deficit to top Telstar 2-1 in the Dutch top flight Eredivisie.

On a day that featured the high-profile debut of Raheem Sterling for the club, De Stadionclub supporters watched the Algerian steal the show along Australian international Jordan Bos.

Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp opened the scoring inside fifteen minutes for relegation zone occupiers Telstar, who were given little chance at getting anything out of Sunday’s fixture. While it was a dream start for the visitors, the hosts stormed back.

In the 30th minute, Bos did well to create space for a cross from the left flank and the ball went to the opposite wing where Hadj Moussa collected the ball. After performing a couple of dribble moves, the Algeria national team winger found space to fire a low shot that just snuck under Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman, Jr.

The two players combined again nine minutes later. Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther distributed the ball to the midfield to begin an excellent team movement. Receiving the ball in space on the left wing, another cross from Bos found the streaking run of the Algerian who finished again with his left boot.

Two goals brings his total to 11 goals and 5 assists in 31 matches between league and UEFA competitions. However, Feyenoord remain fourteen points back of league leaders PSV and will keep their focus on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season. They hold a five-point advantage ahead of third place NEC Nijmegen.

Next up is a road trip to FC Twente next Sunday.
