It was a comprehensive and dominant performance for PSG who maintained high pressure to suffocate the Major League Soccer club. João Neves was the beneficiary of two critical errors from the Inter Miami defense as the Portuguese midfielder was unmarked to head in the opening goal in the 6th minute.
Neves doubled the lead in the 39th minute after Tomás Avilés was dispossessed close to his goal, arriving to tap in an easy finish from Fabián Ruiz’s cross.

Neves’ second goal inspired a complete meltdown from Miami that saw PSG move far beyond reach before halftime. Avilés turned a cross from Désiré Doué into his own net in the 44th minute and then it was Hakimi who made it 4-0 after turning from a rebound when his initial effort was deflected off the crossbar.
Miami failed to record a single shot attempt in the first half, a reflection of complete dominance from the UEFA Champions League winners. The second half was more of a training exercise as PSG relaxed their efforts with the result well in hand. Miami was able to create a few opportunities after the interval but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was hardly troubled.
PSG now await the winners of Sunday’s second Round of 16 duel between Flamengo and Bayern Munich. The quarterfinal clash will take place in Atlanta on July 5 (16:00 GMT).
