Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Miloud Hamdi has expressed his desire to win the remaining matches, including two in the Mainland Premier League and the Federation Cup final.

Yanga took a 10-day break but have resumed training to prepare for the remaining league matches against Tanzania Prisons and Dodoma Jiji, followed by the Federation Cup final against Singida Black Stars. Yanga are still insisting on completing the two league matches despite the rescheduled Kariakoo derby against rivals Simba SC, slated for June 15.

“We have a big task ahead of us in the two remaining league games and the cup final. We expect all three matches to be challenging, especially the first away fixture against Tanzania Prisons. They are fighting for survival and will be desperate for three points, just as we are, because we need those points to defend our league title,” Hamdi told The Guardian.

“What’s crucial is for every player to fulfill their responsibilities on the pitch. I have confidence that we will perform well and get the results we are looking for. What gives me even more optimism is the return of key players from injury, who are now back in full competition mode.”

Despite losing influential midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki to Wydad AC of Morocco, Yanga have been boosted by the return from injury of Pacome Zouzoua and Khalid Aucho.

“The return of Pacome and Aucho strengthens our midfield options, which is important considering we lost Aziz Ki. Their presence brings balance and experience to the team, and I’m happy with how they’ve reintegrated into the squad,” Hamdi said.

“Morale in the squad is high. The players are responding well to our training sessions and are showing the hunger to win. We face Tanzania Prisons away on June 18, and we know it won’t be an easy game.

“But I have great confidence in my squad. Everyone is fit and ready, apart from Yao, and we are hoping that those who went out on national duty return safely and in good form.”

The Citizens are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League standings with 73 points from 27 matches, having won 24, drawn one, and lost two. Simba lie second with 72 points from the same number of matches.
