Hamzat Ojediran marked his home debut for the Colorado Rapids with a stunning goal in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday.

Ojediran fired the Rapids ahead after just seven minutes with a long-distance strike from 30 yards as Colorado defeated the Portland Timbers 2-0.

The former Nigeria Golden Eaglets midfielder’s goal set the tone for the match, allowing the Rapids to play with an early lead before Lucas Herrington doubled the advantage with a header in the 53rd minute.

This victory marks their first win of the new season, moving them to ninth in the Western Conference with three points after two matches.

Ojediran arrival

The 22-year-old joined the Rapids in January 2026 from French side RC Lens on a long-term contract through 2028. His signing is part of a significant roster overhaul led by head coach Matt Wells.

Following the victory, the Colorado Rapids currently sit 9th in the Western Conference standings.
