Harambee Starlets forward Shilwatso released by Beşiktaş Women FC

Kenya national women’s team Harambee Starlets forward Cynthia Musungu Shilwatso is among 16 players released by Turkish Women’s Super League giants Beşiktaş Women FC ahead of the new season.

The Harambee Starlets forward joined the outfit in November 2024.

“As part of the new season structuring efforts of our Besiktas Women’s Football team, we have parted ways with Cynthia Musungu,” reads part of Beşiktaş’ statement on their official website and social media pages.

Apart from Shilwatso, the Turkish giants have also ended their ties with Gizem Aydın, Seda Nur İncik, Elif Keskin, Ece Tekmen, Glory Ognonna, Donjeta Halilaj, Kezban Tağ, Shameeka Fishley, Ana Teles, Elis Nemstov, Evy Pereira, Lara Pintassilgo, Minela Gacanica, Vanessa Cordoba, and Elifenur Karabulut.

“We thank them for their service to our club and wish them success in their future careers.”

The former Vihiga Queens striker joined Beşiktaş on a one-year deal but sees her time in Istanbul coming to an end eight months into the contract. She was capped for Kenya at senior level during the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualification.
