Kenya women’s national team suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat in their friendly match against Morocco at the Village Sportif de Tanger Stadium in Tangier on Wednesday.

Morocco scored the opener in the sixth minute, but Kenya responded ten minutes later courtesy of forward Fasila Adhiambo’s well-taken effort. In the second half, Morocco dominated, thumping four goals past Harambee Starlets and easing to victory.

The North Africans are currently 60th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings. After their two friendly matches, Harambee Starlets will participate in the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship 2025, scheduled for 12th to 22nd June in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Kenya will be joined by hosts Tanzania, South Sudan, Burundi, and Uganda in the five-nation regional tournament, organised by CECAFA in collaboration with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).

The competition aims to prepare CECAFA’s representative for the upcoming 2025 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off in Morocco in July.
