Ghana Premier League: Hayford expresses optimism for crucial fixture

Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, is banking on a favourable result as his team prepares for their upcoming Ghana Premier League fixture against Nations FC, expressing optimism for a strong performance on the day.

Heart of Lions’ performance cannot be underestimated this season as they are tied on 23 points with former champions Aduana FC and Medeama SC after match day 12 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Kpando-based club will travel to the Ashanti region as guests of Nations FC at the Dr Kyei Complex on Sunday, a fixture head coach Bashir Hayford is looking forward to winning.

Heart of Lions Determined To Cause An Upset

“Normally, we take match after match, so we are preparing for all the matches. So we don’t specifically take one match and say that we are preparing for it. We are praying that we will get a good day so that we get the victory we want,” Bashir Hayford told Heart of Lions TV.

“Nobody goes to war and says he is going to lose, so we are going for the win, we are determined, they [players] know what is ahead of them, and so mentally they are ok having seen their spirit in training, I know they are mentally prepared for the match.

“We are going away, and if you know how to play football, wherever you go, you will play the same football, and you will get your results, so we will work on them.”

Heart of Lions defender, Yaw Danso, spent a few minutes discussing the players’ preparedness to take the game to Nations FC.

“As we always do in our matches, we are going there very focused and determined to get the maximum points or a point. We are not going to lose all three points there,” added Yaw Danso.

“There is no pressure; we are taking each game by each game. We are not rushing for any title or contending; we are doing our best to make people see what we are doing.

Heart of Lions have recorded six victories, five draws and one defeat. They are just one point above reigning champions GoldStars after 12 matches.
