Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has reacted to the positives from his team’s experience at the 2025 GHALCA Top Four competition.
The Kpando-based club finished third in the four team pre-season competition with four points from three matches.
Heart of Lions lost 1-0 to Hearts of Oak before nicking past Asante Kotoko by 1-0 in their second game. Lions settled for a 1-1 draw against Gold Stars before losing 4-3 on penalty shootouts to finish on four points per the competition’s rules.
Bashir Hayford says the tournament has helped him identify some lapses that need to be corrected ahead of next season’s domestic campaign.
“We will go back and prepare for the league, it has helped us a lot because we have been able to see those who can start the league for us and those who cannot start for us and then we are going to work on our finishing and that loss of concentration,” Bashir Hayford said.
“We came to struggle to take the Top Four [but] we couldn’t so we will go back and prepare for the league.”
