Heartland FC relegated from NPFL to NNL

Heartland FC have again been relegated from the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) to the second division League which is the Nigerian National League (NNL) despite beating fellow embattled Akwa United on the final day of action in the NPFL,
The Oweri club which is handled by former Super Eagles legend, Emmanuel Amuneke were also relegated the previous season, but returned to top flight action after Beyond Limits could not take up their place in the NPFL.
On Sunday May, 25 202, , Heartland edged Akwa United 2-1 at home, but as El Kanemi Warriors, Niger Tornadoes and Katsina who were in the relegation zone all winning their home games, the Owerri club as well as former NPFL Akwa United have now dropped down to the NNL .
El Kanemi pipped Sunshine Stars 1-0, while Katsina United secured a narrow victory over the 2025 president Federation Cup finalist Kwara United 1-0. And also Nigier Tornadoes defeated the four time NPFL champions Kano Pillars 3-2.
Heartland finished 17th in the standings on 48 points from 38 matches, Akwa United were 18th with 44 points, while Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars had alreadt been demoted earlier in the campaign.
