Updated: Nov 8

Accra Hearts of Oak’s quest to regain their lost glory was further boosted on Friday, November 8 at the Legon Sports Stadium following a slim 1-0 win against new boys, Vision FC.

A 49th minute strike by forward Mawuli Wayo, his second of the season, clawed all three points for the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners.

The Phobians who were coming in from a convincing 2-0 victory at title contenders, Medeama SC, nailed the new boys in week 10 of the Ghana Premier League.

The record Ghana FA Cup holders started the top flight on a poor note - losing their opener to another entrants, Basake Holy Stars, by 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The 2000 CAF Champions League winners went on to cop yet another loss - a 2-0 humbling at Heart of Lions in week two before rallying to record a 2-0 victory over Bechem United at their adopted Legon Stadium.

The confidence winning streak was followed by two successive goalless draws - at Nations fc and home against two time champions, Aduana Stars in weeks 3 and 4.

Hearts chalked their first away win in the following week when head coach, Aboubakar Ouatarra led a rejuvenated side to a 2-1 glory at newly promoted Young Apostles.

The millennium champions, ever since managed to grab four points from three subsequent games - a goalless draw at Dreams fc at the Tuba Astroturf in Kasoa, a 1-0 home loss to leaders Gold Stars before pinning Medeama 2-0 at the Tarkwa TnA Park in week 9.

The Phobians now climb into 4th on 15 points, same as arch rivals Asante Kotoko with the latter set to clear their week 10 fixture on Sunday at Bechem United.

One point separates them from second placed Nations FC and four behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with the rest of the matches from week 10 set to take place over the weekend. Watch video of the Mawuli Wayo's winning goal below.
