Heavy sanctions hit Al Ahly and Zamalek after action-packed Egyptian Super Cup

The Competitions Committee of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has announced the disciplinary decisions following the 2025/2026 Egyptian Super Cup, which was won by Al Ahly after defeating Zamalek 2-0 in the final held at Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE.

The sanctions were particularly tough on both Al Ahly and Zamalek, as the two clubs faced the heavy penalties issued by the EFA’s Competitions Committee. Each side was fined EGP 100,000 ($20000) for collective offensive chants from their supporters during the final, while individual players from both teams — Ahmed Mostafa Zizo of Al Ahly and Juan Bezerra of Zamalek — were also fined for breaching the post-match ceremony protocol.

The disciplinary measures reflected the committee’s strict stance on maintaining order and discipline in high-profile domestic competitions.

The committee’s sanctions are as follows:

  • A fine of EGP 100,000 (almost $20000) imposed on Zamalek due to collective offensive chants from its fans during the final against Al Ahly.
  • An additional fine of EGP 100,000 (almost $20000) imposed on Zamalek for similar misconduct by its supporters during the semifinal match against Pyramids.
  • A fine of EGP 100,000 (almost $20000) imposed on Al Ahly for collective offensive chants from its fans during the final against Zamalek.
  • A fine of EGP 50,000 (almost $10000) imposed on Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, Al Ahly player, for breaching the official award ceremony protocol.
  • A fine of EGP 50,000 (almost $10000) imposed on Juan Bezerra, Zamalek player, for failing to comply with the official award ceremony protocol.
  • A one-match suspension and a fine of EGP 10,000 imposed on Krunoslav Jurcic, Pyramids head coach, for his dismissal during the third-place match against Ceramica Cleopatra.

Al Ahly were crowned champions of the Egyptian Super Cup after defeating arch-rivals Zamalek 2-0 in the title decider.
