Zimbabwe: Highlanders FC unveil two separate coaches

Highlanders FC of Zimbabwe have hired former Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari as head coach weeks after appointing South African Thabo Senong to the same position.
After weeks of speculation, the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit named the former Premier League star as their new man in charge.
Highlanders FC released a statement on Saturday confirming the recruitment of the former Portsmouth FC forward.
“We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Benjani Mwaruwari as the senior team head coach. A respected figure and legend of the game who is highly qualified, Benjani brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep understanding of the game as the club remarks on an exciting new trajectory,” reads part of the statement
Strangely,  the management of club, which is also called Bosso, fell short of disclosing the employment status of Senong.
The statement only said the club will make “further announcements regarding the full coaching structure and additional appointment in the coaching panel.”

Who really is Highlanders coach?

Weeks ago, Highlanders FC announced the appointment of the former South Africa under-20 coach Senong.
The former South Africa assistant national team coach had replaced Dutchman Pieter De Jongh who parted ways with the club in December.
However, reports suggest that Sening was hired before the issuance of his work permit hence he returned to South Africa. Now it appears the club’s financier has bulldozed his way to have Mwaruwari on board and push Senong under the bus.
Founded in 1926, Highlanders FC are one of Zimbabwe’s oldest clubs boasting seven league titles. However, just as is the case with the country’s other giants Dynamos FC and Caps United.
