Ghana Premier League: Holy Stars end Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten streak

Asante Kotoko’s aim of keeping their unbeaten streak in the Ghana Premier League suffered a setback against Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday.

Kotoko lost 2-1 to Holy Stars in their week three outstanding fixture at the AAKII Arena.

The Porcupine Warriors were the only club yet to taste defeat in the current campaign ahead of their delayed fixture and a win would have taken them level on 23 points with leaders Aduana FC.

Holy Stars shot themselves ahead with just four minutes into the second half from the boot of attacker Richmond Somiah.

Kotoko pulled through striker Kwame Opoku in the 53rd minute but Holy Stars went ahead for the second time courtesy Prince Tweneboah with two minutes into added time to secure the victory.

The win moves Holy Stars to nine points in 17th with Kotoko remaining fourth on 20 points, three behind leaders Aduana after 11 games.
