Maroons FC have welcomed back a familiar face, as experienced forward Fred Amaku re-signs with the Luzira-based club following the expiry of his one-year contract at Kitara FC.
Amaku returns for his second stint at Maroons, where he previously enjoyed a prolific spell, scoring 25 goals in 74 league appearances across three seasons after joining from Busoga United. His performances earned him admiration and a strong bond with the club's faithful.
The 2024/25 campaign saw Amaku feature for Kitara FC, where he played 24 Uganda Premier League matches, scoring five goals and providing one assist for the Royals. However, after just one season, the forward has opted for a return to familiar territory.
Maroons FC consider the veteran forward a crucial addition, not just for his goal-scoring instincts, but for his leadership qualities and wealth of experience. His return is seen as a morale boost for the dressing room and a key asset for the club’s ambitions this season.
Over the course of his career, Amaku has also turned out for Onduparaka FC, Paidha Black Angels, Busoga United, and Kitara, racking up 117 top-flight appearances in the Uganda Premier League.
With his proven track record and deep ties to the club, Amaku’s homecoming promises to reignite his impact at Luzira.
