Botola Pro: Captain Hrimat inspires AS FAR comeback

Mohamed Hrimat and Reda Slim sparked a second half comeback for AS FAR Rabat in their 3-2 victory over Olympique Dcheira in action from Morocco’s Botola Pro on Thursday.

Slim set up Hrimat on both occasions in the second half with the captain’s brace helping Les Militaires overcome a 1-2 halftime deficit to defeat the top flight debutants.

An unexpected difficult test for AS FAR in domestic action

But the CAF Champions League semifinalists, who upset defending African club champions Pyramids FC before the March FIFA window to advance from the quarterfinals, experienced a difficult and opportunistic opponent. Hicham Ait Brayam put the visitors ahead inside the opening five minutes at the Stade Olympique in the Moroccan capital.

Experienced forward Youssef El Fahli responded for AS FAR but Mohamed Habbali put the visitors back ahead before halftime.

The hosts proceeded to lay siege to their opponents in the second half and it was inspirational leader Hrimat who led the charge. He got on the end of a corner kick delivery from Slim in the 62nd minute and produced a brilliant flick header past OD goalkeeper Mohamed Idar.

The resistance of Olympique Dcheira was broken one more time in the 77th minute and once again, Hrimat’s aerial supremacy emerged with another excellent header from Slim’s floated cross. The brilliant performance from the captain comes shortly after returning from national team duty with Morocco.

The Royal Army club remain firmly in the race to capture the title. They are one point back of current leaders Raja Casablanca, with two games in hand on the Green Eagles. Wydad are level with AS FAR but have played one less match.
