“I dream of playing at the 2026 World Cup with Ghana” – Amankwah Forson

The FIFA World Cup is the dream of every young footballer and Ghana’s Amankwah Forson is no exception.

The central midfielder, who is a graduate of the famed Ghana talent production line West Africa Football Academy [WAFA], recently signed for English Championship club, Norwich City from Austria outfit, Red Bull Salzburg until 2028 with an option to extend for another.

The 22-year-old, who made his senior Ghana debut in an international friendly against Nigeria back in March 2024, has set sight on being part of the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.

“Definitely, I’m dreaming of going to the World Cup because if you’re a football player, especially a young player playing in the World Cup says a lot,” he told Flashscore.

“I think it’s really good to be part, because I want to be part, so I need to do everything to be part of the squad,” he added.

Amankwah had loan spells with Austrian outfits, FC Liefering and SCR Altach. He was in the provisional squad of the Ghana Black Stars for AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast but was not named in the final squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

On the 4th of January 2025 Forson scored his first two goals for Norwich City in a match against Coventry City. He played 21 league games, scoring twice for Norwich City last season and he has two caps for the four-time African champions without a goal to his credit.
