Ghana forward, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, has indicated that it feels good to return to the senior national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 21-year-old was sidelined for several months with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament, missing a number of Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He was absent in Ghana’s double header against Chad and Mali last month, but he has been named in the squad for the last two games against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
The former Sporting Club forward said: “It’s a good thing to be back and running again, play your football [and] enjoying it again, and it’s good getting back to [Leicester] City, Fatawu Issahaku said.
The former Dreams FC winger touched on his goal over the weekend for Leicester City in their 3-1 win at Swansea City in the English Championship.
Issahaku registered a perfect goal with a perfect left-footed strike from the right side of the field as the Foxes remained in contention for an early return to the Premier League.
“This is what I do always, I’m used to getting the ball into the net, and when I got that, I just had to do it.
Fatawu Issahaku rose through Ghana’s youth ranks, playing at the U-17, U-20, and the U-23 levels, going on to win the 2021 Africa U-20 Championship under current Kotoko coach, Karim Zito, in Mauritania.
The four-time African champions will travel to the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on October 8 as guests of the Central African Republic in the penultimate clash before hosting Comoros four days later at the Accra Sports Stadium in the final game.
