Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo has said that he feels proud as an African to play for Manchester United.

The France born right-winger joined English giants Manchester United from Brentford in a deal reported to be in the region of £65 million pounds for five years with an option to extend for a further year.

He becomes the third Cameroonian to sign for the Red Devils after midfielder Eric Daniel Djemba-Djemba and current teammate, Andre Onana. The 25-year-old, in an interview with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, said that it feels great to wear the Manchester United shirt.

“I’m just really proud because Manchester United have fans everywhere and it’s really big all over the world and I think when I get back home [Cameroon], it’s going to be a crazy feeling,” Mbeumo told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

The speedster was asked about which player inspired his career while growing in the sport and he mentioned four time African Player of the Year, Samuel Eto’o.

“Obviously Samuel Eto’o. Obviously a great player, he is a striker as well and he was scoring goals and that’s what I wanted to do and I am doing, scoring goals and trying to help the team win and I feel he was a really good inspiration.” Mbeumo added.

Bryan Mbeumo spent six seasons at Brentford and he was a member of the squad that qualified from the English Championship. As a product of the Troyes academy, he is capped 22 times by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, scoring six goals in the process.
