Ghana striker Jonathan Sowah has said that he is biding his time for another senior national team call up despite overtures from other countries to switch nationality.
Sowah, 25, has been in fantastic form for Tanzania club, Singida Black Stars after joining them from Libya outfit, Al Nasr last season.
He made his Black Stars debut in their 3-1 international friendly victory against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium in September 2024. Having been overlooked several times despite being in some hot form for club side, Sowah believes the right time moment will come for a return to the four time African champions.
“It’s not my decision or my strength but God’s time is the best and the decision by the technical team is most important. Nobody can oppose whatever they will say,” Sowah told Pan Africa Football.
Sowah has admitted that, he has had overtures from other African countries to switch nationality and play for them but he is still confident of playing for the Black Stars.
“There are many countries talking to me but I’ve said that, I have to something for my country. “That is why I’m still around and haven’t considered proposals of switching nationality [to play for another country].”
Sowah started out at Ghana lower tier side, Danbort FC before signing for premier league club Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.
He was a key figure in Medeama’s Ghana Premier League title-winning squad of the 2022-2023 campaign, netting 12 goals and providing one assist in 20 top flight appearances.
Al Nasr of Libya snapped him up in a deal reported to be in the region of $220,000 before he signed for Singida where joined compatriots, Ibrahim Imoro, Emmanuel Keyeke and Frank Assinki.
He scored 11 goals in 11 games, helping Singida to finish in 4th with 53 points and a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
