Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Frederick Ansah Botchway etched his name in history books when he helped his club, Dynamos of Zimbawe defend the Chibuku Super Cup on Saturday.

Dynamos placated their fans with the glittering trophy after this season’s poor finish in the Premier League - lying 8th when the season concluded the previous weekend.

A first half lead by Ngezi Platinum, courtesy Obriel Chirinda stunned Dynamos who panted for breath until the latter part of the encounter.

All Dynamos needed was a perfectly taken strike by Ghana’s Frederick Ansah Botchway from the distance to secure the equalizer with 11 minutes to end the game.

The game went into the penalty shootouts after the added time of 30 minutes failed to produce any more goals to separate the two sides.

Dynamos smiled all the way to the bank with a 4-2 victory after the shootout outs at the Rufaro Stadium to retain Zimbabwe's top domestic cup. Ansah Botchway, 28, spoke to Pan-Africa Football on his desire to win trophies with the famous club every season.

“It feels very very good to achieve this with Dynamos. I remember when I joined Dynamos, I said it would be my desire to achieve something with the club season after season.

“So it feels good, it feels very very good especially to score and you know this is the first season with Dynamos so being part of the team in this cup final and scoring, I think it’s amazing. It feels so good, it’s amazing and I’m very very happy,” Frederick Ansah Botchway told Pan-Africa Football.

The game on Saturday was a repeat of last year’s final where Dynamos beat the same opponent to win Zimbabwe’s most lucrative knockout tournament for the first time. Dynamos were awarded a whopping sum of US$75,000 as prize money following the enviable feat and the victory equally earned them a ticket to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
