Ghana youth international, Hakim Sulemana has said that he wants to surpass the level attained by his elder brother, Kamaldeen Sulemana of Southampton.
Hakim, who is one of the revelations at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, plies his trade with Danish Superliga side, Randers FC. The 20-year-old forward has racked up four Most Valuable Player awards in the Black Satellites Group C and the quarterfinal games, confirming his brilliance at the competition.
When asked about following in his brother’s footsteps, the Right to Dream Academy product admitted to eying the English Premier League but wants to first command a starting role at club level.
“Kamaldeen always pushed me,” he told CAF's website (CAF Online). “He set the standard, but I want to go higher.”
“I admire what Kamal has achieved, but I want to be known for my own journey.
“My dream is to reach the Premier League, just like Kamal, but first, I want to become a regular at Randers and prove I can make a difference," he told CAF Media.
Sulemana has so far made 16 appearances for Randers with a goal to his credit. After excelling at Right to Dream, he joined Olympique Lyon’s youth setup in France before sealing a move to Danish top-flight side Randers FC in 2024.
Sulemana was on the score sheet in Ghana's 2-2 draw against Egypt in the quarterfinal game on Monday, despite the team eventually losing 5-4 on penalty shootout.
