Ibrahim Mbaye: PSG boss gives opinion on attacker’s lack of playing time

Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye has become the talk of town following his airtight performance during the March international friendlies.

Having provided an assist and scored for the Lions during the international break, the 18-year-old continues to cement his position under national team coach Pape Thiaw.

Despite his red-hot form, the winger has enjoyed very little minutes since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations where the Teranga Lions’ victory is being contested by Morocco at the Court of Arbitration Sports [CAS].

Luis Enrique has given his opinion Ibrahim Mbaye’s lack of playing time.

Speaking to the press this Thursday, Luis Enrique was questioned about his situation.

Mbaye has scored once in nineteen games

“I don’t know. You’d have to ask the player himself, not me. But I think we’ve given IB (Ibrahim Mbaye) a lot of confidence.

“We’re sticking with that confidence. And there are times when you’re more comfortable with the national team and times when you’re more comfortable with your club.

“But that doesn’t change what we think of him. I hope he can show his quality in Paris as well,” the former FC Barcelona coach then declared.

Mbaye was a delight to watch at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, playing in six matches with a goal to his credit.

For PSG this Ligue 1 campaign, the sharp winger has made 19 appearances with a goal and two assists as they sit top of the Ligue 1 table on 60 points, one point better than Lens.

He has been linked to several clubs in the domestic top flight and abroad with English Premier League club Aston Villa leading the race.
