Ibrahim Osman scores debut goal as Birmingham City overpower Leicester

Ghana international Ibrahim Osman marked his loan move to Birmingham City with a debut goal as they cruised past Leicester City 2-1 in the English championship on Saturday.

The 21-year-old attacker joined the Blues on a season long loan from parent club Brighton in the January transfer window and has quickly hit the ground running at the St Andrew’s Park.

Birmingham City made their intentions known early in the game with Osman finding the back of the net in the third minute.

His celebration was short-lived after compatriot Fatawu Issahaku leveled for the visitors in the 21st minute to open the game up for prolonged hostilities.

Both sides threatened each other in the first half but failed to produce any more goals, ending the period with a 1-1 draw.

Birmingham, however, came up with other ideas to overpower Leicester City with Jay Stansfield scoring the match-winner in the 67th-minute with an assist from Marvin Ducksch. Osman was voted Man of the Match by BCFC supporters following the victory.

The victory pushes them into 10th on the English Championship table with 45 points from 31 matches.

The Ghanaian has now scored one goal in his first three appearances for Birmingham City, who are two points from the promotion playoff spot.

He played 14 matches without a goal in his previous loan spell at French Ligue 1 club Auxerre before joining Birmingham City. The former Nordsjaelland forward has had another loan stint with Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord where he played 22 games with 3 goals.
