The 22-year-old Ghanaian moves to Bologna until June 2026 in an attempt to obtain more regular playing time, with an option to buy included in the deal.
Sulemana goes onto the list of Ghanaian players to have donned Bologna’s jersey including former Ghana national team captain Stephen Appiah, Kwadwo Asamoah, Godfred Donsah, and Afriyie Acquah.
Sulemana began his Italian career with Hellas Verona’s junior side side in the 2021/22 season before earning first-team opportunities in Serie A. He later moved to Cagliari under Claudio Ranieri in 2023. At Atalanta, he made ten league appearances last season, scoring twice in the process.
He is part of coach Otto Addo’s Ghana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
Ghana will travel to the Chadian capital of N’Djamena on September 4 before hosting Mali in Accra four days later.
