Premier League: Iliman Ndiaye strikes in Everton victory, Ismaïla Sarr opens league account

Senegal national team attackers Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr were among the contributors on Sunday in the English Premier League with Ndiaye’s first half strike inspiring Everton to their first league win of the season while Sarr’s Crystal Palace settled for a draw.

Everton celebrated their first competitive match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in style and Ndiaye benefited from a stellar performance by high profile loan signing Jack Grealish. Grealish produced assists on both of Everton’s goals in a 2-0 victory over Brighton, hitting a hard cross to find Ndiaye for a header at the far post in the 23rd minute to put the Toffees ahead.

James Garner was the next to benefit from Grealish’s work, doubling the advantage early in the second half. Ndiaye was dangerous all match long and the 25-year-old looks set to continue being a productive member of the Everton attack after reaching double digits with his goal total last season.

In London, Ismaïla Sarr scored his first Premier League goal of the early season to put hosts Crystal Palace ahead against Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park. Sarr finished from a Daniel Muñoz cross but it was not enough to secure a first league victory. Callum Hudson-Odoi equalized for Forest close to the hour mark and the teams shared the points when the full time whistle arrived.

Sarr was crucial in Palace’s Community Shield upset of Liverpool and will be back in action on Thursday when Palace attempt to secure qualification to the league phase of the UEFA Conference League. After a 1-0 victory at home in the first leg, Sarr and Palace will look to finish the job in Norway when they face Fredrikstad in the second leg.

Ndiaye and Everton are next in action on Wednesday when they host third tier side Mansfield Town in the Carabao Cup.
