Imo Obot leaves Enyimba after contract expiration

Former Nigeria ‘B’ national team defender Imo Obot has officially left Enyimba following the expiration of his contract with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side.

The left-back established himself as one of the best defenders in the NPFL during his time with Enyimba. Obot joined up with the nine-time NPFL champions from Nigeria National League (NNL) club Dakkada FC in 2020.

He holds the record for most free-kick goals by a defender in the NPFL over the past three seasons. Obot won the NPFL title with the Peoples’ Elephant following the 2022-2023 season.

The player has reportedly attracted the interest of Rivers United, who are managed by former Enyimba head coach Finidi George.
