Fazila Ikwaput continues to make headlines in the Indian Women’s League, with the Ugandan international proving once again why she is the most feared forward in the competition.
Her sensational hat-trick on Wednesday propelled Gokulam Kerala FC to a commanding 3-0 victory over Sribhumi FC at the EMT Corporation Stadium.
Wasting no time, Ikwaput gave the Malabarians the perfect start, finding the back of the net as early as the 9th minute. Just four minutes later, she capitalized on a defensive lapse inside the penalty box to double Kerala’s lead, completing her brace in rapid succession.
The game was effectively sealed in the 64th minute when Ikwaput struck again, securing her hat-trick in style and putting the result beyond doubt. Her goal-scoring exploits not only strengthened Gokulam Kerala’s title charge but also extended her personal tally to an impressive 19 goals this season, further cementing her lead in the Golden Boot race.
Meanwhile, fellow Ugandan and new signing Sharon Namatovu made her debut appearance, coming on in the 86th minute to replace Nongmaithem Ratanbala Devi.
With this crucial win, Gokulam Kerala remain firmly in the hunt for silverware, sitting second on the league table with 23 points from 10 games just four points behind leaders East Bengal FC.
