The Senegal Ligue 1 Week 28 game between US Ouakam and ASC Jaraaf was marred by crowd violence, resulting in injuries to fans, the referee and journalists. The crucial tie between the two clubs was played at the Ngor Municipal Stadium.

According to Wiwsport, violence erupted during the warm-up, continued throughout the match and escalated after the final whistle. Both sets of fans clashed and attempts to disperse the violence proved futile. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as Jaraaf continue their push for the league title. Law enforcement was called in during the first half, but the situation quickly escalated.

The match referee sustained a leg injury after fans threw projectiles onto the field. Two journalists were reportedly injured after law enforcement used tear gas to disperse the violent crowd.

Crowd violence has been a recurring issue in Senegalese football in recent times. Jaraaf were previously fined by CAF following crowd trouble during a CAF Confederation Cup Group C match against USM Alger. CAF stated that Jaraaf fans had attacked USM Alger supporters. This weekend’s incident marks the second involving the Dakar-based club.
