Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that the club has officially pulled out of negotiations for Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman.
Marotta revealed the decision was made after Inter’s offer of €45 million was rejected by Atalanta, who demonstrated an unwavering resolve to keep their prized asset.
In an interview with TMW, Giuseppe Marotta shed light on Inter’s perspective, acknowledging that Atalanta was within their rights to refuse the sale.
“There was talk of Lookman but we found a club that had every right not to put him on the market and rightly so.” Atalanta valued the player at around €50 million and refused to budge.
The Nerazzurri had already reached a personal agreement with Lookman on a five-year contract but the final hurdle proved insurmountable. Inter agreed a five-year contract with Lookman but had their €45m offer rejected by Atalanta. Inter last week abandoned the move and shifted their attention to other targets.
