Lesotho’s Vodacom Premier League side Bantu FC have set the record straight that Lehlohonolo Seema is not their coach despite the former Sekhukhune United manager’s presence in the technical panel.
In a statement, Bantu clarified that Seema is merely working in a consultancy role, adding that Charles Manda remains the head coach.
“Following the club’s recent announcement regarding the involvement of Mr. Lehlohonolo Seema with our team, we understand that some confusion has arisen concerning his role,” Bantu’s statement reads.
“We wish to clarify that Mr. Seema is with the club in a supportive capacity, like he has been doing in previous years when available, to assist the current Head Coach, Mr. Charles Manda, who continues to serve as the Head Coach of the team.
“Mr. Seema’s engagement with the club is on a temporary basis, for the remaining six games of the current season, as he remains open to pursuing other professional opportunities.”
Bantu have since apologised “for any misunderstanding caused by the previous announcement.”
Seema is a former Lesotho international who made his name as a player in neighbouring South Africa for Bloemfontein Celtic FC and Orlando Pirates before becoming a coach, starting with the defunct Siwelele. The former defender lost his job at Sekhukhune United recently.
In a twist of events, Bantu have since suspended assistant coach Kabelo Malapane and goalkeeper coach Isaiah Mosala. No reason has been given behind the suspensions.
