Crystal Palace FC star Ismaila Sarr risks missing the 2025 African Cup of Nations, which will be hosted this month in Morocco. The Senegal forward has an ankle injury that might keep him out of AFCON 2025 action.
Sarr was substituted in the first interval during Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Selhurst Park during week 13 of the English Premier League.
His injury has quickly become a source of concern at the Lions of Teranga camp. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner stated tests need to be run to assess whether Sarr will be fit enough to play soon.
“We all need to assess him more closely, but his ankle is quite swollen, so I think he will miss a few games. We might not see him again before the Africa Cup of Nations,” said Glasner.
Sarr is one of the key players in the Senegal national side. The former Olympique Lyonnais forward has never missed a major tournament for Senegal since his first appearance in 2016.
He was part of the Senegal squad that won the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon. Senegal coach Pape Thiaw will be hoping to see Sarr fit before their 2025 AFCON group-stage game against Botswana on December 23rd.
