Ivory Coast international, Maxwel Cornet has returned to Italy with Genoa on loan from English Premier League side, West Ham United.
The 28-year-old winger who could deploy as left-back will spend the 2025/26 season at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris – a second loan spell for a side that is managed by former France international, Patrick Vieira.
The versatile player had mixed loan campaigns at Southampton and Genoa in 2024 – spending a short stints with both clubs before his return to West Ham. He played seven games for Genoa before returning to West Ham and on 1 September 2025, he returned for a second loan spell with the club.
Cornet signed for the Hammers from Burnley in August 2022 and has made 37 appearances. He was part of the squad which won the UEFA Europa Conference League in Prague in June 2023.
He previously played for Metz and Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1. After representing France at the junior and youth level, he switched allegiance to Ivory Coast where he has gone on to play 31 games for the Elephants with six goals under his belt.
