Nigeria international Alex Iwobi scored a brace but it was not enough to help Fulham who suffered a 3-2 defeat against West Ham United in a Premier League fixture on Tuesday.

A quick-fire first half double from Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek saw the Hammers take a commanding lead into the break before Super Eagles winger Iwobi gave Fulham a lifeline early in the second half.

Lucas Paqueta restored a two-goal cushion in the 68th minute before Iwobi struck again with ten minutes left to provide a glimmer of hope but it was too little too late. The game also saw Nigeria defender Calvin Baseey feature. Iwobi has now scored seven goals from 21 league matches and provided three assists.

Elsewhere, Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo was on target as Bournemouth extended to nine games their unbeaten record in the Premier League following an entertaining 2-2 draw with fellow high-fliers Chelsea.

Cole Palmer’s 13th-minute opener had given the hosts a deserved lead at the interval at Stamford Bridge but the Cherries levelled for Andoni Iraola’s team from the penalty spot after Semenyo had been fouled five minutes into the second half.

Semenyo then scored a stunner to make it 2-1 for the Cherries after rifling an unstoppable drive past Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez but Reece James netted a 25-yard free-kick in the fifth minute of added time to deny Bournemouth the win.

Semenyo has now featured in 20 league matches, scored six goals and provided two assists. Meanwhile, DR Congo player Yoane Wissa found the back of the net as Brentford came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with champions Manchester City at the Gtech Community Stadium.

A Phil Foden brace put Man City ahead in the second half, before Wissa pulled one back with eight minutes to go. And, in additional time, Christian Norgaard rose highest to head past Stefan Ortega and dramatically equalise at the death.

Wissa has now featured in 18 matches, scored 11 goals and provided two assists.
