Iwobi calls out Fulham fans to watch Chukwu-magic after Man City brace

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has called on Fulham to anticipate more from his teammate Samuel Chukwueze after he grabbed a brace in a 5-4 Premier League defeat against Manchester City at Crave Cottage on Tuesday.

Despite the disappointment, Chukwueze’s –first two goals in English football helped claw his side back into the game.

A brilliant Fulham comeback ended up going unrewarded as three moments of class had City three up through Erling Haaland, Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden, but Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back with a fine header before the break.

Another Foden effort and a Sander Berge own goal then appeared to have the visitors in control, but again the Whites fought back through Alex Iwobi and a Chukwueze brace off the bench – his first goals for the Club.

‘Now he’s getting that end product’

Speaking to Fulham TV after the game, Iwobi said of his teammate at the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco: “His nickname in the training ground is Chukwu-magic. When he’s in training he’s pulling off some crazy stuff, and most importantly he’s doing it on the pitch.

“Now he’s getting that end product — scoring goals and also creating chances.”

He added: “Of course, we need everyone, but he’s one player that we should look out for. I like to feed him with the ball because I know he’s always going to create something, and the fans will take to him.

“As long as he keeps his head down and remains consistent, we’re always going to back him.”

The defeat left Fulham lying 15th on the Premier League table with 17 points accumulated from five wins, two draws, and seven defeats.
