Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga has appealed to the LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel) to terminate his contract with French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
The 29-year-old former Chelsea youth player is under contract with the Allianz Riviera club until June 2027.
Boga joined Nice from Italian side Atalanta in 2023, but a recent fiasco involving him and the Nice ultras has caused him to stop playing for the club since December 2025.
Fans attacked Boga and his Nigerian teammate Terem Moffi, and both players filed a complaint over the incident. Nice has been struggling to get positive results, as head coach Franck Haise left and was succeeded by Ligue 1 veteran Claude Puel.
According to L’Équipe, Jérémie Boga asked the LFP to free him from his contract with Nice, with the working relationship between the player and the club strained. The LFP confirmed that it has received the appeal and will begin reviewing the matter on Thursday, January 15.
Before his forced absence, Boga made 20 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals. His situation has also affected his potential call-up to the Ivory Coast national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The former France youth international won the 2023 AFCON with the Elephants on home soil.
