Nigeria defender Jamilu Collins and Ivorian forward Yakou Méïté are among the players who have been released by EFL Championship club Cardiff City.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the aforementioned players will depart at the conclusion of their agreements on June 30, 2025. The club also confirmed the exit of interim coach and former player Aaron Ramsey.

“Aaron Ramsey will leave the Bluebirds this summer. The Welsh captain rejoined his childhood Club during the summer of 2023, before taking up the role of caretaker manager for the final three games of the 2024/25 campaign. Aaron departs Cardiff City Stadium with our best wishes,” read part of the statement.

“Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas and Yakou Méïté will depart at the conclusion of their agreements on June 30th, 2025.”

Born in Kaduna, Collins spent his youth years with Abuja Football College Academy. He was one of several players who moved from Abuja to Croatia to join the HNK Rijeka youth team in 2012. In October 2012, Collins signed his first professional contract with HNK Rijeka.

On May 20, 2022, Collins signed for Cardiff City. Collins said: “I’m really excited to be in Cardiff, and I can’t wait to get started. The club has a great history, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was so excited, I couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new season. The goal is to fight for the Premier League. I can’t wait to meet the supporters and to fight for the jersey.”

Collins, who joined Cardiff City on a free transfer after leaving German club SC Paderborn in May 2022, sustained a pre-season injury, which cost him a place in the starting line-up. The 30-year-old’s last appearance for the Bluebirds was in November 2024.

The left-back was close to leaving Cardiff City in January, however, no suitable bids were submitted. Last season, Collins featured in three matches but failed to register a goal or assist.

In total, the Super Eagle made 44 appearances for the Blue Birds with one goal and four assists to his name. Meanwhile, Méïté featured 34 times, scoring three goals.
