Jean-Philippe Krasso dreams of back-to-back AFCON glory with Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast and Paris FC striker Jean-Philippe Krasso stated that retaining the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy is the objective for the Ivory Coast national team. The striker won the 2023 AFCON on home soil and hopes to replicate that glory in Morocco at the end of the year.

Krasso had a brilliant season in France’s Ligue 2, scoring 17 goals and helping Paris FC gain promotion to the top flight. As quoted by Sport Ivoire, the 27-year-old forward emphasized that defending their title is the team’s main ambition when the AFCON kicks off in Morocco:

Emerse Faé’s squad is in Group F alongside four-time champions Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique. The German-born Krasso acknowledged that the group is far from easy:

“It is not an easy group. But the level is high in the other groups too. We will have to be focused in every match. We saw what happened during our AFCON at home. In a group that seemed less difficult, we miraculously got through. In any case, it will be three complicated matches; we will have to be good.”

Krasso will be hoping to make the final squad. He has been a full Ivory Coast international since 2022, scoring four goals in seventeen appearances for the Elephants.
