New Celtic FC signing Jeffery Schlupp has set sights on helping the Scottish giants scale a massive UEFA Champions League knockout phase hurdle when they face German powerhouse Bayern Munich this month.

The two sides will clash in the Round of 32 with the first leg set for February 12 in Glasgow before the reverse fixture billed for February 18 in Munich. Celtic need to play above themselves to book a spot in the Round of 16 of the Europe's top club competition after failing to snatch automatic qualification to the knockout stage in the league phase.

Schlupp, who signed a last-minute loan move to Celtic in the just ended January transfer window, insists his outfit will do everything possible to progress ahead of their opponent.

“I’ve watched the other Champions League games and the boys have performed so well in it,” he told Celtic TV. "To be able to get a draw like Bayern Munich is very exciting for the fans and everyone involved with the club but again, it’s a game that we’re obviously going to go and try to win."

“As much as enjoying the experience, it’s a game that we want to win and try to get through the play-offs.” Schlupp added. The 32-year-old Ghanaian utility player signed a deal to join the Scottish giants on loan till the end of the season from English Premier League side Crystal Palace.

The Champions League Round of 16 first leg clashes are set for March 4 and 5 with the return encounters fixed to take place March 11 and 12.
