Sevilla manager Joaquin Caparros has backed Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke to shake off his injury scare which has limited his playing time at the club.
Ejuke, who joined the La Liga side as a free agent last summer, has been inconsistent with2 goals and 1 assist in 22 appearances this season.
The 27-year-old picked up a hamstring injury earlier in the season, limiting his playing time where he has missed 11 matches at the club. Since returning on January 18, Ejuke has mainly featured as a substitute for Sevilla.
Notwithstanding the challenging moments for the Super Eagle, Caparrós, who recently took over after the dismissal of Garcia Pimienta, has praised Ejuke’s quality.
“Ejuke has quality. In the first half of the season when he was here, he was a decisive player. I’ve seen him in games where he’s been decisive for our team. Therefore, he has to come back. He has the confidence of me and the entire coaching staff.”
Sevilla has struggled with consistency in the final third this season which has seen them rooted in 15th on the league table with 37 points from 32 matches. They travel to Osasuna on Friday, April 24.
