Thievy Bifouma has signed a two-year deal with Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League side Persepolis following his departure from Esteghlal Khuzestan. The Congo Brazzaville striker will continue his career in Iran.
Bifouma joined Esteghlal Khuzestan at the start of the season and scored five league goals while providing four assists, helping the side remain in the top flight. The journeyman has had a career spanning stays in France, England, Spain, Türkiye, and Greece. The 33-year-old Congo international had a year left on his contract at Khuzestan but joined the Tehran giants on a two-year deal. Persepolis did not disclose the transfer fee.
Bifouma told the club’s official site that he is overjoyed to join his new club on his birthday. Persepolis finished third in the league with 60 points, missing out on qualification for the AFC Champions League. The club is also home to Algerian international goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz and Moroccan defender Ayoub El Amloud.
