Cameroonian defender Joyskim Dawa, who plays for FCSB in Romania, recently shared his pride after rejoining the national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
However, his return was met with mixed emotions as an injury sidelined him during the second match against Libya. The 28-year-old defender featured in Cameroon's qualifier against Eswatini, coming on as a substitute at halftime in a match ended in a goalless draw.
Dawa was ruled out of the following game against Libya, where Cameroon secured a 3-1 victory at home. Reflecting on his experience, Dawa expressed both his pride and thoughts, stating:
"Returning to the national team and wearing this jersey again is a source of immense pride. Unfortunately, an injury stopped me midway, preventing me from participating in the second match. It's tough, but hardships shape the greatest."
Despite the setback, Dawa is happy with victory and intends to make a stronger comeback:
"I'm very happy with this victory; it's just a setback. I will come back stronger to help the country achieve its goals. We move forward together, and Cameroon wins."
With two matches played in this international window, Cameroon sits second in Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the African region, having played six games so far.
