JS Kabylie director: “We did not wish to face Al Ahly”

JS Kabylie’s general manager, Hakim Medane, admitted that his club didn’t wish to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Al Ahly will host JS Kabylie next Saturday at Cairo International Stadium in the opening round of Group B in the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League.

The group features Al Ahly (Egypt), AS FAR Rabat (Morocco), JS Kabylie (Algeria), and Young Africans (Tanzania).

Speaking to ON SPORT TV, Medane said:
“On Thursday, we will arrive in Cairo to face Al Ahly. We did not wish to face Al-Ahly in the Champions League, but it will be an anticipated match between the two teams.”

He added:
“Al Ahly has a long history in Africa and we must be well prepared for it. Al Ahly is one of the favorites every season to win the African Champions League title, and we realize the difficulty of facing it, and it also includes a distinguished group of players.”
