Jupiler Pro League: Rafiki Saïd and Ilay Camara score; Abrahams earns promotion w/ Beveren

Comoros national team star Rafiki Saïd led Standard Liège to victory while Ilay Camara scored his first goal for Anderlecht over the weekend in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League.

Meanwhile, South African forward Kurt Abrahams is on track to return to the Belgian top flight after his club Beveren confirmed promotion over the weekend in the second tier Challenger Pro League.

But it was Saïd who was influential in a 3-0 victory for Standard away from home at Genk. The Comorian got behind the defense just before halftime to double his club’s advantage after Ibe Hautekiet put the visitors ahead nine minutes earlier.

Named Man of the Match, Saïd now has 5 goals and 3 assists in 24 matches in all competitions this season. Standard moved up to 8th place with the result.

Also on Sunday, versatile player Ilay Camara scored his first goal for Anderlecht in a 4-2 victory at Zulte Waregem. A brilliant first half for the visitors saw Thorgan Hazard score twice before Camara fired in a low shot to complete a five-minute stretch where Anderlecht scored three goals.

Hazard completed his hat-trick in the second half to move Les Mauve et Blanc into 4th place on the league table. Camara, who arrived from Standard Liège this season after previously graduating from Anderlecht’s youth academy, was previously a Belgian youth international before making his debut for Senegal in 2026 World Cup qualifying last year in March.

Kurt Abrahams earns Jupiler Pro League promotion with undefeated Beveren

And a special mention is well deserved this week for South African forward Kurt Abrahams. Now in his tenth season in Belgium, the Cape Flats native scored in Beveren’s 4-1 victory at Patro Eisden in the second tier Challenger Pro League.

The club is undefeated through 24 rounds and Sunday’s victory, their tenth consecutive win, officially confirmed promotion for the club based in East Flanders. Abrahams has been instrumental with 9 goals and 2 assists in 23 league matches, and has 5 goals in his last 6 matches.

After gaining some top flight experience after first arriving in Belgium with Sint-Truiden, he has spent most of his time in the second tier. His contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign but Beveren have an option to extend, which will hopefully be activated after Abrahams was a crucial component of their fantastic ongoing campaign.
