Nigeria women’s national team head coach Justin Madugu has said his team will go all out for a win against Algeria in their last group game at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Sunday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
Madugu’s Super Falcons have already qualified for the quarterfinals after winning their opening two games in the competition against Tunisia and Botswana.
The nine-time champions defeated North African side Tunisia 3-0 in their open group B match before leaving it late to snatch a 1-0 victory over Botswana.
Speaking with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the gaffer declared that they will fight to maintain their unbeaten streak in the competition as he also promised to adopt tactics that will give his side victory on the day.
“Our commitment has been to take it one game at a time. We believe in our approach, and we will adopt the tactics, pattern, and approach that we believe can give us victory in each game. We respect all the teams but fear none.”
The Super Falcons need either a draw or victory against Algeria to seal the top position in Group B and continue their hundred percent record.
Nigeria will be without reliable midfielder Deborah Abiodun against Algeria, after being suspended for picking up two yellow cards in Nigeria’s first two games.
